The paper treats the arrow of time not as primitive temporal flow, entropy increase, causal influence, information growth, psychological memory, quantum collapse, cosmological initial condition, or clock order, but as a standing-governed quotient structure. The central claim is that temporal directionality is not an independent primitive source. It is the strict non-invertible orientation left after primitive-arrow routes are exhausted in a kernel-faithful regime.

Overview This manuscript is Paper I in the AASC Time Non-Primitivity series. AASC is used here as an exhaustion-and-impossibility constraint formalism. The paper does not propose a new physical mechanism competing with thermodynamics, causality, quantum measurement, records, or cosmology. It fixes the target and exhausts the available same-scope primitive-arrow routes. Central Result The manuscript proves the Standing Monotonicity Theorem in quotient form. For a fixed kernel-faithful admissible scope, irreversible standing fixation induces a standing preorder on raw standing-bearing stages: [ e_i \preceq_S e_j ] when standing fixed at (e_i) is retained, transported, presupposed, conditioned upon, or lawfully inherited in (e_j). Raw stages need not be antisymmetric. The invariant arrow-bearing object appears only after quotienting by standing equivalence: [ e_i \equiv_S e_j \quad \Longleftrightarrow \quad e_i \preceq_S e_j \ \text{and} \ e_j \preceq_S e_i. ] The quotient (E_D/\equiv_S) carries a partial order, and the arrow is the strict non-invertible direction of that quotient order: [ [e_i]_S <_S [e_j]_S. ] The paper therefore does not claim that raw stages form a global temporal line. It proves that the invariant arrow is the strict direction of the standing quotient. Method The proof mode is AASC exhaustion. The kernel is instantiated by necessity in non-degenerate regimes that support admissibility-assessable, identity-preserving standing-bearing construction. The paper does not derive the kernel from time, entropy, causality, probability, information, cosmology, or clocks. It begins after the kernel is in force and asks what follows for directionality in regimes that remain kernel-faithful. Primitive-arrow routes are then exhausted. A proposed primitive source of temporal direction must either preserve the fixed kernel-faithful comparison class or alter it. If it alters the comparison class, it is scope change, anchor motion, tensor import, or richer theorem-object declaration. If it preserves the comparison class, it either affects standing-bearing directionality or it does not. If it does, it must operate through already typed standing, record, entropy, causal, informational, probabilistic, metric, boundary, or clock-use structure. If it does not, it is skin or bookkeeping. No third same-scope primitive-arrow locus remains. Route Exhaustion The paper classifies and exhausts the principal primitive-arrow candidates: primitive temporal flow; primitive metric time; primitive entropy; primitive probability or typicality; primitive information; primitive causality; primitive memory or psychological flow; primitive quantum collapse or measurement selection; primitive cosmological initial condition; primitive clock order; primitive block representation; primitive complexity growth. Each candidate either backflows into the kernel conditions needed to identify, compare, transport, or reuse its own content; becomes a declared anchor or richer-scope tensor; survives as an effective arrow inside an admitted scope; collapses to representative privilege or skin; or fails as a same-scope primitive ground. Effective Arrows The paper does not eliminate familiar arrows of time. It role-types them. Thermodynamic, record, causal, quantum-measurement, psychological, and cosmological arrows survive as effective projections or refinements over standing monotonicity. They may align locally in our physical regime without being identical in principle or globally forced to align. The paper treats: records as fixed witnesses available for downstream admissible reuse; entropy increase as an effective coarse-graining monotone over admitted ledgers; causality as witnessed dependence across ordered retained consequence; quantum measurement direction as record-fixation quotienting over predictive dynamics; psychological time as an agent-level projection of record asymmetry; cosmological arrows as witness-availability, boundary, horizon-access, or reachability structures inside declared cosmological scopes. Physical and Philosophical Payoff The result separates several objects often conflated under the phrase “the arrow of time”: the standing arrow; physical time as ordered retained consequence; record asymmetry; entropy gradients; causal dependence; quantum measurement records; memory and anticipation; cosmological boundary asymmetry; physical clock use. This separation also clarifies block-universe and reversibility objections. A representation that contains all events does not make all events play the same standing role. Reversible equations do not erase record fixation. Entropy gradients do not authorize the standing conditions needed for entropy claims to be standing-bearing. Clocks may represent or condition physical time, but clock certification does not generate temporal direction. Scope and Nonclaims The manuscript does not derive the second law, calculate entropy production, derive the Past Hypothesis, select a physical clock, solve quantum gravity, or provide a complete cosmological model. Those are not the theorem target. The target is the fixed-domain constraint question: what directionality remains after primitive-arrow routes are denied boundary-authorizing status in a kernel-faithful regime? The answer is standing monotonicity. Entropy, causality, information, records, clocks, memory, measurement, and cosmology remain physically important, but they do not backflow into the kernel conditions that make their arrow claims standing-bearing. Series Role Together with The Arrow of Time as Standing Monotonicity, this paper gives a two-sided AASC treatment of time non-primitivity: Paper I: temporal direction is not primitive; primitive-arrow routes are exhausted and standing monotonicity is the invariant survivor. Paper II: clock choice is not primitive; primitive-clock and selector routes are exhausted and the physical clock quotient is the invariant survivor. The result is not that time disappears. It is that primitive temporal authority is eliminated. Direction and clocking survive as distinct standing-governed structures inside admitted scopes.
